Lowes and Bertolli Pull Ads From Big Brother

In the wake of the Adam Jasinski fiasco, I emailed several of the advertisers who promote their products during the Big Brother time slot on CBS to withdraw their support of the TV show.

A few days ago, I learned that Lowes had pulled their advertising from Big Brother. Although I did a little victory dance at the time, I didn't post about it then. Quite frankly, I just didn't want to give any more airtime to that insensitive dolt. I was happy that a big-box retailer stepped up to the plate and took a stand for what's right. Lowe's just earned me as a loyal customer.

Tonight, though, I received a phone call from Bertolli, you know, the pasta people. They thanked me for the letter I sent them. The marketing rep wanted to tell me personally that they have pulled their advertising from the Big Brother time slot. They apologized and assured me they do not condone CBS's airing of the remarks and do not want their products associated with such television programming. She also mentioned that they would be mailing me a hard copy letter and would be enclosing several coupons.

You could have knocked me over with a feather. (No, not about the coupons, although yes, I do love coupons!), but the fact that they took the time to call me. Personally. Not just send out a form letter, or even a generic e-mail statement. Someone took the time to make human contact to tell me that, yes, they heard me and they understood.

Now they are some stand up kind of people.

Thank you, Bertolli.

So glad to hear of your positive outcomes. I have actually contacted Bertolli myself for obviously unrelated issues and needless to say, they definitely are stand up people. Power to the people Jenn, one voice does count I guess!

Holy cow! Not only am I impressed with your commitment to this issue, I am also overwhelmed by the actions of Lowe's and Bertolli's. How nice to know that corporate America has a conscience. Funny, I sent a letter to CBS. Wonder how long it will take them to respond in a stand up sort of way? Oh, yeah. I forgot. They don't care.

Incredible! They've got my business. Now, if only Bertolli would get into the GF pasta game...
